Nigerian youngster Kelechi Iheanacho is gradually becoming a poster boy for Manchester City as he was used to model the club’s new away jersey which went on sale today.
The 19-year-old who joined the Citizens after a successful FIFA Under-17 World Cup in 2013 announced himself with a remarkable breakthrough 2015/16 season under former manager Manuel Pellegrini, scoring 14 goals and 5 assists from 35 appearances in all competitions.
Iheanacho was also the only senior signing available when the Citizens unveiled the new City crest alongside new signings IIkay Gundogan and Nolito.
The other Manchester City stars who modelled the new away jersey alongside Iheanacho include Fernandinho, Kevin de Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero.
Iheanacho is already looking forward to the new season with manager Pep Guardiola.“He’s a great manager coming to the team and I just need to work harder in every training session and do my best in every game.” .
“The aim of the team is to play well and win trophies at the end of the season and I think it is going to be good for us,” he added.
Manchester City will begin their campaign in the new season with a home game against Sunderland.
