Brazilian midfielder Fernando has tipped his Manchester City teammate Kelechi Iheanacho to become a star at the Etihad.
The 19-year-old broke into the first team squad this season and has not disappointed, scoring late winners against Crystal Palace and Swansea in the Premier League while also stamping his authority in City’s charge to win the Capital One Cup.
Fernando believes that the Nigerian can excel more than the other youngsters at City but must remain humble to achieve greatness.
Speaking with Goal.com, Fernando revealed: “Kelechi Iheanacho. For me, given his age, the personality he has, the way he finishes, he’s impressed me a lot.”
“I think [ he can play in the first team]. In football you can never say who is going to make it, there are a lot of great young players who you see but don’t go on to play at a high level, but if he is humble and he works a lot he’s got all the tools to make it.”
Manchester City will host Sunderland in the Premier League Boxing Day fixture.
