It is no longer news that Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo is a nightmare to premier league defenders this season but he is about to take it to the next level by becoming the first Watford player to score in five straight top-flight games this weekend.
The former Udinese forward has scored 12 times in 17 premier league appearances this campaign which has helped the Hornets to just one point away from a top four place and he is set to continue that brilliant run against Chelsea on Boxing Day.
Last week, Ighalo showed why he has earned rave reviews this season when he took Liverpool defenders to the cleaners with a brilliant brace. He out-muscled Martin Skrtel for the first goal before finishing a fluid move with a cheeky header to hand Quique Flores men a historic 3-0 win.
According to the official twitter handle of the premier league: ‘No Watford player has ever scored in five straight top-flight matches. Ighalo could do it on Saturday.’
Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy holds the record for the longest Premier League’s scoring streak and a goal for Ighalo against Chelsea on Saturday will make it five straight goals for the Nigerian.
