Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has declared that he is happy to get the goals that confided West Ham to their first defeat on the road in the English Premier League this season.
Ighalo who has now scored seven times for Watford this season in the League said he was also thrilled with the general performance of his teammates which he said was key in getting the win over the Hammers.
“I’m happy about my goals, but I’m most pleased about the team performance. We played very well today (Saturday) and we deserved the win and the three points.” Ighalo told his club’s official website.
The win over West Ham makes it two wins on the bounce for the Golden Boys, who are ninth in the Premier League table after 11 games, and Ighalo believes the team spirit that exists within the first-team squad has been crucial to their success so far.
“We’ve been performing great this season, not just today, and we’ve been working hard together,” he said.
“The team have been pushing, we run for each other, we fight for each other, and it’s been great.
“I’m happy for the spirit today, we won last week and that gave us a boost to push on.
“We were playing at home and I think our game-plan really worked today, so we are very happy.”
Ighalo has already put his name in the history books as he is the first player to score seven goals in a season for the Hornets.
