The Clever Boys have one of the trickiest opening PSL games next Tuesday.
It’s a home game but they’re hosting Kaizer Chiefs, so coach Gavin Hunt wants his forces to be sharp.
Bidvest Wits lost Sibusiso Vilakazi to champions Mamelodi Sundowns, but they’re smarting from a swap deal, with Malajila and Ngele coming their way.
They’re top players but didn’t get much game time in recent times.
“The biggest problem with Malajila and Ngele is that they haven’t played so their fitness levels, intensity levels are not good. Obviously they have been training, but training is never the same as games so that is going to take a little bit of time,” said Hunt.
Other new signings Xolani Mlambo, Gabadinho Mhango, Eleazar Rodgers and Thabang Monare are coming along nicely. Pentjie Zulu – not so much.
“The others that came in, Xolani, Mhango – we loaned him out to Golden Arrows and he got six months there which was important for us. Xolani obviously played most of last season and he is okay,” Hunt continued.
“Monare played, Rodgers played, but Zulu has been injured which is a blow to us. He is a good player, but has been injured throughout pre-season so he needs a lot of strengthening up and work which we will do. We will put him on a program and get him up.
“It is just those two from Sundowns certainly, their condition is not good,” he concluded.
