Hull City midfielder Sone Aluko has hailed the national U-23 team and their coach Samson Siasia for clinching one of the three tickets in the men’s football tournament for next year’s Olympics in Rio 366football.com.
It was the second time Siasia will qualify the team for the Olympics. First was in 2008 where he led the side to the finals of the competition and Aluko is delighted at the feat.
Stand-in skipper Oghenekaro Etebo scored the key goal from the penalty spot after Senegal’s Ousseynou Thioune, handled the ball in the box.
And Aluko who has once played for coach Samson Siasia at the 2009 World Youth Championship in Egypt tweeted via his handle @sonealuko:”Fantastic achievement. Well done to the boys and my former U-20 coach Siasia!
Aluko who is out of contract at the end of this season has scored just four goals in his last 75 appearances for Hull City.
Recall that the duo of Nwankwo Kanu and Arsenal’s teenage star, Alex Iwobi have both congratulated the team for their triumph.
