Barcelona manager Luis Enrique says his his squad’s ability to overcome a tough spell in the season was key to achieving a second consecutive La Liga title win despite the late challenge from rivals Real Madrid.
Barcelona pipped bitter rivals Real Madrid to the La Liga title thanks to a Luis Suarez hat-trick at Granada on the final day.
Enrique who has now won the title in both his seasons in charge of Barcelona said his players’ show of character and effort made the difference at the end of the title race.
“It was a deserved title which shows that the team knows how to bounce back from a bad spell,”
“The hard work of the team throughout the season must be praised.
“It is the competition which shows the real state of a team” and that “the title is very hard to win.
“I’d like to thank our fans for the fact that the average attendance at Camp Nou has increased which has helped us to become champions.
The win which was the Catalans’ fifth in a row ensured they won the league by one point from Real, who beat Deportivo La Coruna 2-0 on the same day.
