Former Kenyan international Patrick Oboya is on the verge of joining Kenyan Premier League (KPL) newcomers Kakamega Homeboyz who are strengthening way ahead of their second season in the top flight.
Homeboyz were relegated at the end of their debut season in the top flight in 2013 but as they return, they are setting their targets high with the club’s chairman Cleophas Shimanyula confirming they are in talks with Oboya.
Oboya is a vastly experienced player and Shimanyula believes a swoop for him wil be beneficial for the Kakamega side.
“We are in talks with him but a deal has not been reached yet. He is a player we are really looking to have because of his experience and abilities. Maybe by the end of the week we will have him listed as our player but that depends on a few other things,” he said.
Oboya who played for Tusker and Nakuru AllStars in the 2015 season will be the seventh signing at the club, joining former KCB men Andrew Kulecho and Athman Buki, David Juma from Gor, Martin Imbalambala from Nakumatt FC, Evans Maliachi from Sofapaka and Michael Khaduli who rejoins the club from Muhoroni Youth.
