In the 2015 CAF Champions League, first round, Gor Mahia advanced on the away goal rule after a 3 – 3 draw with Madagascan Champions CNaPS and the two were once again paired in the 2016 edition.
CNaPS will be hoping to do well this time round when the two face off in the first leg at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday 13 February and their head coach Rabeharisoa Herybe says the first strategy will be to avoid concession.
He knows with the quality of Gor Mahia, having gone unbeaten in the 2015 season, they will be hard to beat but he says they have learnt from their mistakes in 2015 and will be looking to carry a comfortable result back to Antananarivo.
“Gor Mahia will not be easy opponents to face but we are all prepared. They won the Kenyan league unbeaten and I guess they will want to go on that way but after meeting them loast year we corrected our mistakes and we are ready for this now.
“Here in Nairobi we do not want to concede or worse still, to lose. It will be very important for us that we take a good result back home to the second leg. This year we want to advance to the next stage and go as far as we can,” he said.
