Bayern Munich relied on second half goals from Arturo Vidal and Douglas Costa to secure a 2-0 away win over Hertha Berlin on Saturday.
The hosts had kept the defending champions at bay all through the first half but they caved in as soon as the second half resumed as Vidal struck first in the 48th minute before Costa ensured that the three points were in the kitty with his 79th minute strike.
Interestingly, Saturday’s result was similar to what obtained at the Allianz Arena in the reverse leg.
The win, Bayern’s 26th from 31 matches this term, takes the Reds up to 81 points, seven ahead of second-placed Dortmund with three games left to play. Following the midweek clash in Madrid, the Bavarians will seek to wrap up the domestic league title once and for all with a win at home to long-standing rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach next Saturday.
