The Kenya women national team will be leaving the country at 3am on Saturday 30 to take part in the invitational COTIF tournament in Spain. The traveling squad for the trip has been named and the girls will arrive in time for their opening game against Benfica on Sunday 31 July.
Head coach David Ouma has called up 20 players, slashing from the 28 that were in camp but the team will travel without a goalkeeping coach following Lawrence Webo’s suspension to pave way for investigations into the sex scandal that rocked the team’s camp.
Two goalkeepers; Vivian Akinyi and Samantha Akinyi got the nod to travel as well as former Nigeria based forward Neddy Atieno who has been out with an ankle injury.
Esse Akida, who has enjoyed top form in the recent club and country matches is also in the team.
The technical bench will have head coach Ouma, his assistant Mary Adhiambo and Doreen Nabwire as the Team Manager.
