Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan is a doubt for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations first leg qualifier against Mozambique.
The Black Stars playing legend pulled out of training with an injury on Wednesday.
The Shanghai SIPG striker will need to be assessed as he can still fight himself fit, taking a precaution with ice on his thigh. Coach Avram Grant didn’t want to risk him further.
“Gyan sustained what initially appeared to be a significant injury to his left thigh. However, the tests have revealed that Gyan suffered a sprain on his hamstring,” revealed the Ghana Football Association.
The next step is to recover fully from the sprain and hope it doesn’t have any other knock-on effects.
Ghana will have to be extra careful as there’s fears he’s suffering a recurrence of the problem that kept him out of the Asian Champions League against Suwon Bluewings this month.
