Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has said he is by no means angered by the seemingly negative jibes at him by his former Bayern Munich player Franck Ribery.
The City Coach told newsmen that he still “loves” Ribery despite the scathing attack coming from the French star.
“About Ribery I must say: I love him very much. It’s good that Ribery says that I’m young. I’m here to learn.” Guardiola replied whene confronted with Ribery’s comments after his team beat Borussia Dortmund on penalties in the International Champions Cup on Thursday.
Ribery, 33, has spoken out about his supposed rough spell under Guardiola in recent days, telling kicker that he finally feels “trusted again” under new Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti as well as praising two of the former Barcelona coach’s predecessors, Ottmar Hitzfeld and Jupp Heynckes.
Having struggled under Guardiola albeit chiefly due to injuries, Ribery is already showing signs of a his lethal former self under Ancelotti, and netted twice in the International Champions Cup game against AC Milan in Chicago on Wednesday.
