Regardless of the reported interests coming from several quarters including, Liverpool, Mario Gotze has surprisingly revealed that he is now planning on a future at the Allianz Arena, saying that he intends to stay put with Bayern next season.
Gotze did not enjoy the best of times under Pep Guardiola in 2015/16, leading to rumours that he would leave this summer with just a single year left on his contract with the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal winners.
Quoted by Bild on Monday, the 23-year-old World Cup winner said: “I look forward to the new season in Munich and will do everything possible to compete in top shape under Ancelotti.”
The sharp change in mind comes almost immediately after Gotze parted ways with his agent Volker Struth and his company Sport Total, who said: “Sport Total and Mario Götze end their six-year collaboration by mutual agreement. This is the result of a conversation SportsTotal CEO Volker Struth and the 23-year-old striker who led Bayern Munich last Saturday together.
Struth added: “After extensive deliberations and discussions in the past few weeks, we have come together to decide that we terminate the cooperation. Therefore we met for a joint discussion and parted by mutual consent. I thank him for his many years of trust and wish him well for the future.”
Gotze started just 11 Bundesliga games this season under Guardiola, but may be hoping for an increased role under new manager Carlo Ancelotti, who takes over this summer.
