Ten-time Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Tusker FC’s hopes to bag the GOtv Shield are over after they were knocked out by second-tier side Nzoia United in a match played at the Moi Stadium – Kisumu on Saturday 10 October.
After a barren first half, Nzoia United took the lead via Mark Baraza’s penalty but Clifford Alwanga restored parity on the 80th minute. The game was forced into penalties with Nzoia who had earlier eliminated last year’s finalists Posta Rangers winning 8-7.
With their league campaign in tatters, Tusker will now only hope to bag the Top 8 title.
Sony Sugar FC 2-1 West Kenya Sugar
At the Awendo Stadium, Sony Sugar man Edwin Oduor scored a brace to eliminate last year’s semi-finalists West Kenya Sugar FC.
Oduor opened the scoring on the hour mark but that lasted just seven minutes as Brian Arasa leveled Oduor was on hand again, scoring the winner in the 72nd minute to see the hists stay in the chase for two trophies.
Bandari FC 2-1 AP Bomet
At the Mombasa County Stadium, Bandari FC edged out National Super League (NSL) side APs Bomet 2 – 1.
Farid Mohammed put the Dockers ahead in the half hour mark with Sharif Mohammed adding another in the 70th minute to ensure Dickson Wambugu’s stunner for the visitors five minutes from time was just a consolation.
