Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia will not be signing Kenyan international David Ochieng as had been reported widely when the player started training with the champions.
Ochieng has been without a club since leaving his Saudi based employers Al – Taawon and having trained with the champions since September last year in a bid to keep fit, Gor Mahia made the approach in the hope of tying down the defender.
However, the Gor Mahia Assistant Secretary General, Ronald Ngala has stated that the talks hit a snag with the player’s agent keen on talking him to Europe.
“We have been with him for some time now and it was obvious that we open talks in view of signing him. However, it emerged that his agent wants to take him somewhere else and so we will not have him at Gor Mahia,” he noted.
Ochieng, an established Kenyan international has 30 caps for the Kenya national team and was the skipper in the team that went to Ethiopia for the CECAFA Senior Challenge.
