Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud has heaped praises on Joel Campbell following the Costa Rican’s first Emirates goal in the win over Sunderland on Saturday.
Goals from Campbell, Giroud and Aaron Ramsey secured Arsenal a hard fought 3-1 victory over the Black Cats at the Emirates on Saturday to end their three game winless streaks in the league.
Campbell broke the deadlock with a smart finish thanks to a superb pass from Mesut Ozil during the victory and Giroud believes it was just reward for a selfless team performance.
“I’m happy for him because he has the opportunity to show his talent. He’s a top guy who is very generous on the pitch because he never gives up.
“It’s not always been easy for him but I always used to speak with him, encourage him and when he’s playing like that he’s very important for us.
“Hopefully we’re going to see more of him in that form.” Giroud told Arsenal Player.
Giroud scored at both ends as Arsenal claimed a vital three points, and he admitted to feeling relieved at full-time after a frustrated spell following his own goal that brought Sunderland back on level terms on the stroke half time.
