Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has turned down Jose Mourinho’s request to handle the Under-21 squad and he is set to end his 29-year romance with the club.
The 42–year-old was interim manager of the club when David Moyes was sacked three seasons ago and handled the last four matches but the club went ahead and employed Dutchman Louis van Gaal the following season.
The Walsh star agreed to be the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager’s assistant but after two seasons he was also sacked and Mourinho was appointed.
The Portuguese who is tipped to offer the club’s number two position to his long-standing assistant Rui Faria, demoted Giggs to help source for talents for the first team in the Under-21’s but he has now rejected the offer and will consider his option of managing another team.
According to the DailyMail, Manchester United have declined to comment on the title of the job offered to Giggs.
Giggs made a total of 963 appearances for the Manchester United and won various titles including the premier league, UEFA Champions League, Club World Cup, Charity Shields and the Super Cup.
