Former Valencia boss Gary Neville has thanked the La Liga side’s fans, management and playing staff for their support during his short spell at the club.
The former England and Manchester United right-back was sacked by Valencia on Wednesday after less than four months in charge as the team’s head coach.
The Three Lions assistant in his reaction after his sack said;
“I would like to thank Valencia Football Club, the fans, staff and the players. I would have liked to have continued the work I started but understand that we are in a results business and in the 28 games (W10 D7 L11) they have not been to my standards or to those which are required by this Club.” Neville said as quoted on Valencia’s official website.
Meanwhile newly appointed head coach Pako Ayestarán led his first training session since taking charge of the first team on Wednesday evening.
Ayesterán had previously handled training in the week’s initial sessions, but Wednesday was the first time he had done so in his new role.
The focus for the squad is preparing for this Saturday’s important game against UD Las Palmas in La Liga. Returning to training following international commitments were André Gomes and Shkodran Mustafi, whilst on Thursday Sofianne Feghouli, Diego Alves, Mathew Ryan and Aymen Abdennour will do likewise.
