The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) sub branch elections concluded successfully late on Tuesday 15 December and the focus will now move to the Branch polls.
The FKF Electoral Board had announced that the repeat elections will be conducted in all the 39 sub branches that had issues stemming from the polls at the first time of asking but three failed to take off over varying setbacks.
Turkana, Ijara and Marakwet were the only ones missing out. Turkana had no list of clubs for the polls to be conducted, Marakwet, that in the initial process had been reported to have all eight positions as unopposed did not take off due to shortage of ballot papers.
A number of sub branches had hitches with the polling stations being mioved on the 11th hour but still went on to vote while in Kiambu, where a number of officials had reportedly gone to court to stop the process, the polls still went on.
In the most contested sub branch – Mombasa where a record 25 candidates for three different factions were eyeing the eight seats on offer, two positions – that of Treasurer and Vice treasurer had to be repeated as two candidates in each category tied with 49 and 47 votes, respectively.
As the certified results are being awaited contestants at the Branch level are doing their final touches for the polls set for this Friday.
The national polls will be conducted on 22 December.
