The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) will hold a press briefing on Friday 5 August to announce drastic measures aimed at streamlining the game, as far as refereeing is concerned.
The Kenyan Premier League and National Super League have experienced a lot of complaints over the levels of officiating lately and the federation says the action will include suspension of incompetent referees.
The federation also says in the statement that among the actions being mulled is reconstituting the committee charges with the appointment of referees.
“Following numerous complaints by various football stakeholders on the level of officiating in the country, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) will tomorrow morning hold a press briefing to announce drastic measures it has taken in an effort aimed at safeguarding the game.
“The measures will include but are not limited to suspension incompetent referees and the reconstitution of the Referees committee,” the statement read.
FIFA referee Israel Mpaima and George Mwai have been two of the referees who have attracted a lot of complaints from teams in the top flight and grapevine has it that they are among the few facing the federation’s stick.
