The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa has lauded the progress shown by the Kenya national team Harambee Stars and promised support for the team to see it improves further after making good strides lately.
The team played to a 1 – 1 draw with Zambia in Ndola on Sunday 4 September and speaking on arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), the FKF president said he is elated at the team’s recent run in international matches, having gone undefeated in the last five matches.
Though the match was just a formality for the two sides as far as qualification for the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) is concerned, Mwendwa said there are a lot of positives to be picked and assured of building on the good run.
“We lost the chance for AFCON a while ago but I am happy with the way we have ended this campaign. We have not lost any of the last five matches and we have played well; to me that is positive enough and especially since now we can manage wins in away matches.
“The match against Zambia was a good one and we should have won was it not for the late goal we conceded and these are the issues I am talking about. We now want to build on the progress we have had and that means we work even harder,” he said.
