The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Elections Board has handed a new date to the FKF Branch elections following the sub branch polls that started on Thursday amid reports of challenges with the voter registers countrywide.
The Branch polls were initially scheduled to take place on Monday 7 December but the latest communique from the elections board now place the new date at Thursday 10 December. The reason given for the shift, is for the board to organize a free and fair process.
The board further acknowledged that there were a few hitches with the sub branch polls and intimate that there might be repeat polls in some of the affected areas.
“The FKF elections board is pleased to announce that the sub branch election proceeded across the country with few hitches. The board is reviewing the returns and reports and will announce the results soon. Repeat elections will be done where appropriate.
“We are rescheduling the Branch election from Monday 7 December to Thursday 10. The board is focused on delivering free, fair and transparent elections that will bring dignity to the sport we all love,” the statement read.
The National Polls are still scheduled for Monday 14 December.
