Former Amakhosi assistant coach Farouk Khan has unusually mentioned that Willard Katsande can play at central defense.
Katsande is rated as one of the best defensive midfielders in the South African PSL.
“If he does play as a central defender, I think it will complement the loss of Mashamaite,” Khan told Goal.com
“You can clearly see his absence. He was huge; he was a huge loss to Chiefs,” Khan added with regard to him missing from the team that lost to Jomo Cosmos in midweek.
The only reason Khan believes Katsande won’t be tried at the back is because the team needs him in midfield.
“If you are going to move Katsande there who are you going to play in the middle?
“Lucky is not as consistent as Katsande over a period of time.
“Lucky in a season can give you 50 percent of the games consistently.
“In the other games, due to the fact that he is a bit erratic at times, he could let you down in the middle of the park in an ex-amount of time,” Khan added to Goal.com
“So, in fairness to the coach he would rather prefer having Katsande in the middle of the park, where we know he has been sterling.
“He has won several man of the match awards this season and scored important goals.
