Abia Warriors head coach Ladan Boso believes Enyimba who are on the verge of being crowned the Nigeria Professional Football League Champions have done well this season to deserve the title.
The Peoples’ Elephant took a huge step toward a seventh league title with a 1-0 victory over Boso’s men in Umuahia on Sunday thanks to a lone strike from the league’s all-time top scorer Mfon Udoh.
The former U20 national team coach in an exclusive interview with 366football.com after the game congratulated Enyimba for the victory but insists the Aba Landlords were lucky.
“It’s unfortunate that we lost but i will say congratulations to Enyimba. They’ve got everything that is expected of team to play in the continent, they have the best away record so as far as this league is concerned i think they have done well.
“Its unfortunate that i needed to get something from this game but still, i say congratulations to them.
“We had some injury concerns before this game but if you look at the way we played against Enyimba, we should them that we have the stuff but however, they were the lucky side and that’s why they won.”
Udoh’s 69th minute winner was a sweet release for the former Akwa United man who has had a frustrating season bedeviled by injury; his first goal since netting a brace against Sharks on Match day 4.
The result means Enyimba only need one point from their final two games of the season to secure a historic seventh league title.
