Heartland FC of Owerri head coach Alphonsus Dike has expressed satisfaction with his side’s performance after leading the Nazzi Millionaires to secure a vital point on the road against Enyimba on Wednesday.
The NPFL Champions Enyimba dropped points at home for the first time this season after being held to a 1-1 draw by the Oweeri based outfit in an Oriental derby played at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Wednesday.
Speaking to 366football after the NPFL match day six rescheduled fixture, the former Dike commended his lads for the earned point but feels his objective of picking up maximum points against Enyimba was thwarted by his side’s inaccuracies in the final third.

“I’m feel very to have at least earned a point here. We have been working towards picking up results on the road because it has eluded us in about three matches now and we believed we could get it this time around. Now i think we have done what we were supposed to have done a long time ago.
“To be honest, my mission in Umuahia was to return to Owerri with three points but it turned out this way, I’m still happy.
“We have problems with scoring and i can assure you that we are building on that area. We are trying to fortify that area. We want to work on them and ensure they bury every chance that comes calling.
“Initially we have been struggling with scoring but i think that is changing now. If we get our tactics right, we will score more gaols and win more games.” Dike stated.
Peter Onyekachi who joined the Aba Landlords from state rivals Abia Warriors two seasons ago gave the home side the lead after 27 minutes when he profited from a mistake by Heartland goalkeeper Philip Acho to slot home from close range. However, the opener lasted for only four minutes as an unmarked Ifeanyi Onuigbo headed home Emeka Ogbugh’s free kick at the far post to restore parity.
The result means Dike’s men now sit 11th on the NPFL log with 18 points after 13 league games while Enyimba who have had a good season so far in the continental front have managed to just 13 points this season to sit one spot above bottom placed Ikorodu United but with five outstanding fixtures in hand.
