Former Golden Eaglets star Taiwo Awoniyi has backed rave of the moment Victor Osimhen to break the FIFA U-17 goals record in the final against fellow Africans Mali later today.
The FSV Frankfurt forward on loan from Liverpool went on to back Golden Eaglets super striker Victor Osimhen to break the goals record for the competition after equalling Frenchman Florent Sinama Pongolle and Ivorian Souleymane Coulibaly’s nine goals with his penalty in the win against Mexico in the semifinals.
“He (Osimhen) is really great and have helped the team,” he told 366football.com.
“I believe they got great coaches that will help him become better with good advices. I pray he scores more goals and set a new record but above all the trophy first.”
The last time Nigeria played against an African country in the final of this competition was back in 1993 and they were victorious against Ghana by 2-1.
The Estadio Sausalito will host the final between Nigeria and Mali and also the third place match featuring Belgium and Mexico.
