Nigerian duo of John Ogu and Anthony Nwakaeme were in action for 90 minutes for Israeli champions Hapoel Beer Sheva as they began life in the Europa League with a morale boosting 2-0 away win against Inter Milan at the famous San Siro.
Ogu who was voted the best foreign player in the Israeli league last season held the midfield together and ensured the visitors locked down the Nerrazzurri’s while Nwakaeme was allowed freedom to probe forward in attack.
However, it was two second half goals from Miguel Vitor and Maor Bar Buzaglo that sealed victory for the Barak Bakhar led side. Inter Milan coached by former Ajax boss Frank de Boer held 64% of possession but never hurt Beer Sheva to the delight of Ogu who took to social media after the pulsating encounter.
“Great Job from the team. Great result tonight. We keep movin. Thanks every one for the wishes. Now focus against HAIFA,” Ogu tweeted.
In the other Group K match, Southampton hammered Sparta Prague 3-0 to go top of the log on goals difference.
