Midfielder Keagan Dolly earned serious European attraction during the 2015 Under-23 African Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Senegal.
The Mamelodi Sundowns player helped South Africa reach the semi-final, and then qualify for the 2016 Olympics by claiming 3rd spot ahead of hosts Senegal.
“Keagan caught the eye of European scouts in Senegal when he led his nation to the Rio Olympics. There were European scouts there who were very impressed by him,” a source told Goal.com
“They will continue to monitor his progress at club level as well, but he has a long-term contract with the club [Sundowns]. Which means interested clubs have to contact the club first. The player is focused on helping the club win more silverware.”
This is expected to be a breakthrough season for Dolly, and he’s not yet ready to play for the likes of Atletico Madrid who were linked with him in the past.
He was previously troubled with injuries at the end of his Ajax Cape Town career, but now he’s come of age and will spend this season proving that he can first make the cut at professional level in the PSL.
It is already a major task for him to prove himself at title favourites Sundowns, where he’s done well to hold onto a starting spot.
