David Alaba and Rubin Okotie both of Nigerian descent are top on Austria’s preliminary list of 24 players for Euro 2016 France, which begins on June 10.
Austria coach Marcel Koller presented the impressive list in Vienna but has until May 31 to remove a player from that list, with 23 players to travel to France, where they will play in Group F against Portugal, Hungary and Iceland.
Before the start of the continental championship, Austria will play two friendlies against Malta, on May 31, and the Netherlands, on June 4.
The preliminary list of Austria for Euro 2016:
Goalkeepers: Robert Almer (Austria Vienna), Heinz Lindner (Eintracht Frankfurt) and Ramazan Ozcan (FC Ingolstadt).
Defenders: Aleksandar Dragovic (Dynamo Kiev), Christian Fuchs (Leicester City), Gyorgy Garics (SV Darmstadt), Martin Hinteregger (Borussia Monchengladbach), Florian Klein (VfB Stuttgart), Sebastian Prodl (FC Watford), Markus Suttner (FC Ingolstadt) and Kevin Wimmer (Tottenham Hotspur).
Midfielders: David Alaba (Bayern Munich), Marko Arnautovic (Stoke City), Julian Baumgartlinger (Mainz), Martin Harnik (Stuttgart), Stefan Ilsanker (RB Leipzig), Jakob Jantscher (Lucerne), Zlatko Junuzovic (Werder Bremen), Valentino Lazaro (Salzburg), Marcel Sabitzer (Leipzig) and Alessandro Schopf (Schalke 04).
