Following the 1-0 home loss to Zamalek in their first group game of the Champions League, Enyimba coach Paul Aigbogun has insisted they should have defeated the Egyptians instead.
The Nigerian champions started the group phase with a defeat to their Egyptian counterparts at the Adokiye Amasiemaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, but AIgbogun says they dominated from start to finish and should have won.
“We dominated the game and we should have won,” he said.
“We played well and dominated from beginning to the end but unfortunately we lost the game and that’s football.”
The loss means they are now third in group B, with Mamelodi Sundowns also beating Entente Setif 2-0 away from home.
Aigbogun however also admitted that Zamalek played well and praised their effort in the game.
“They must also be given credit for how they played. They defended well and that is what you get when you play a good team,” he added.
