Emmanuel Emenike scored the third goal of the game for his club Al Ain as they beat Al Shabab 1-4 to return to the Arabian Gulf League summit.
Emenike who earlier in the week called it quit with the Nigeria national team in controversial circumstances scored from the spot in Friday’s league outing with Al Ain.
Omar Abdulrahman opened scoring for Al Ain inside two minutes of action before Bastos doubled the lead; curling his 21st-minute free-kick just inside the post.
Al Shabab through their Brazilian import Jo, halved Al Ain’s advantage with a tidy finish 17 minutes later, but right on half time the visitors were two goals up again.
This time, Shabab’s Mahmoud Qassim inexplicably handled the ball in the area; Emmanuel Emenike coolly slotted home from the spot to register his sixth goal in seven matches.
Sadly, Emenike did not score for Nigeria in two years before finally quitting the scene rather unceremoniously.
