Updates from the Super Eagles camp indicates that 18 players are presently at the Abuja camp of the national team and they are now set for the first training session ahead of the crucial games against the Pharaohs of Egypt.
Victor Moses, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon, Fanendo Adi, Carl Ikeme were among those that arrived in the Bolton White Apartment of the Eagles on Monday.
The number of players rose to 18 ahead of Tuesday’s morning first training session in Abuja before hitting the road to Kaduna.
Egypt presently hold the ace in Group G’ topping in the AFCON qualifying series with six points after beating Chad and Tanzania, while Nigeria is in the second place with four points.
The development means Nigeria will need to at least bag four points in the upcoming games to overtake the seven-time African champions who surprisingly have missed out on the last three editions of the AFCON.
It will sure be a keenly contested double-header as Hector Cuper’s men will first travel to Kaduna, Nigeria on the 25th of March for the opening leg and will thereafter host Nigeria four days later in Alexandria.
