Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi has voiced his excitement after finally making his competitive debut for the Super Eagles on Friday in the AFCON qualifying match against Egypt
Iwobi finally laid to rest uncertainties around his international future when he came in to replace Moses Simon in Friday’s game and the 19-year Old almost made his presence count by providing a pass for Victor Moses but the West Ham forward failed in his final touch.
“Unlucky Not To Win But Happy To Have Made My Competitive Debut For Nigeria.”Iwobi wrote on his twitter handle
Quite aware of the late interest shown by England in him continuing from the Youth ranks in which he already stared, Iwobi thanked them for allowing him play for his father’s land.
“Would Also Like Thank You To England For Giving Me The Chance To Represent Them” Iwobi added.
Before playing against Egypt, Iwobi has played for Nigeria only in friendly games and was thus still eligible for England. But with his appearance in the AFCON 2017 qualifiers this has effectively canceled any hope England has in regards to luring him.
