Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a major doubt for the German side ahead of the UEFA Champions League clash against Real Madrid on Tuesday 27 September.
The Germans will be hosting the European champions in the game at the Signakl Iduna Park but after picking a knock in the Friday 23 September Bundesliga game against Freiburg, the Gabon international is considered a doubt.
He scored once in the 3 – 1 win but was a concern thereafter and the club’s sporting director Michael Zorc said the knock is painful but he wants to feature in the game by all means.
“Auba took a painful knock against Freiburg. But he wants to play [against Madrid] by any means.” He told German media.
Aubameyang, meanwhile, told the club’s official TV channel that it’s “not that bad,” and on Saturday the club said on Twitter that he was expected back in training after missing a session as a “precautionary measure.”
On Monday morning, Aubameyang joined defender Marc Bartra and attacker Adrian Ramos in training.
He has so far played 100 matches for the club. His goal on Friday took his tally to four goals in five matches this season.
