AFC Leopards will not be able to call on two key players, Andrew Diego and Alfred Kemboi when the team takes on Chemelil Sugar in their week five Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clash at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday 13 March.
The two are out after taking part in the Mashemeji Derby, a game against arch rivals Gor Mahia on Sunday 6 March with Diego ruled out with a hamstring injury as Kemboi is ill.
The club’s head coach Ivan Minnaert confirmed he will be without the two but is hopeful they will recover in time to return after the international break.
The coach also said midfielder Andrew Tololwa is not fit enough to play the match but will be sitting on the bench,
“I don’t think we will be able to use Tololwa for the match, maybe just to sit on the bench but not to play. We don’t want to rush him back. We will give him some good rest to ensure he is back at 100%. Diego will be out for two weeks and will only miss this match. After the international break he will be back. Kemboi is also out with malaria,” he said.
Leopards will be eyeing a win in the game to consolidate top spot.
