Tottenham Hotspurs star Dele Alli is out for the rest of the season after admitting guilty to a charge of violent conduct drawn from his team’s match against West Bromwich Albion on Monday 25 April.
He admitted to the charge after television cameras showed him punching West Brom player Claudio Yacob in the stomach, an incident that was not captured by the referee.
Alli, 20, contested the standard three-match penalty as “clearly excessive”, but that claim was rejected by an independent match reviewing panel, said the Football Association.
The player though, has to serve the suspension and is getting himself used to the state of affairs.
He tweeted: “Gutted my season is over. Shouldn’t have reacted like I did. Will learn from this and come back stronger.”
His suspension will see him miss the Chelsea, Southampton and Newcastle United matches.
The setback comes just under a week after the former MK Dons man, who has scored ten goals for Spurs this season, was named the PFA Young Player of the Year for the 2015 – 16 season.
Fans will miss Dele Alli and hope to see him turn a new leaf in come next season. For more stories on the Premier league and other football news across Africa, stay close to 366football. No 1 in Pan Africa
