Watford captain Troy Deeney has beaten strike partner Odion Ighalo to November’s Barclays Premier League Player Of the Month awards nomination.
The Hornets’ skipper scored three goals in as many games during November, one goal more than the Nigerian international who sits fourth on the league’s top scorers chart with penalties against Leicester City and Manchester United followed up by a header at Villa Park.
Deeney also bagged an assist at Villa Park, playing the pass which was directed into his own net by Alan Hutton.
Deeney is shortlisted alongside Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy who has now been nominated for the third month in succession, Harry Kane (Spurs), Dejan Lovren (Liverpool), Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku (Everton).
Vardy missed out on the September award to United’s Anthony Martial, but did manage to get his hands on the trophy for October.
The Premier League’s leading marksman scored in all three of City’s games in the month, taking his tally for the season to 14 and breaking a 13-year-old Premier League record by scoring for the 11th consecutive game.
