Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has retained his Player of the Month crown as he was unanimously voted April’s best.
The Spaniard won the award in March and remained consistent to become the first Red Devils player to win the accolade twice this season after picking up 62 percent of the voted to finish ahead of Anthony Martial (24 per cent) and Marcus Rashford (14 per cent).
The 25-year-old played a huge role as Louis van Gaal’s men reached the FA Cup final, producing a breathtaking stop from West Ham’s Michail Antonio in the quarter-final replay and then keeping out Romelu Lukaku’s penalty in the semi-final against Everton at Wembley.
The former Atletico Madrid shotstopper, also kept clean sheets in the league wins against the Toffees (in which he brilliantly thwarted a late Phil Jagielka effort to maintain United’s slender advantage), Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.
De Gea is also in the running to scoop his third consecutive Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year accolade after winning it back-to-back.
