Manchester United’s three times Player of the Year David de Gea has threatened to leave the club if Louis van Gaal continues as manager and a bid of £40m before June 15 will be enough to see him join Real Madrid, according to The Telegraph.
The 25-year-old had agreed a £200,000-per week deal with Real Madrid last summer but it collapsed on the final day of the transfer window over paperwork issues.
However, the Los Blancos are believed to retain a strong interest in the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper, although it remains to be seen if they will look to reignite the transfer over the coming months. A bid £40m before June 15′ can seal a deal to take the Spaniard to the Bernabeu.
The report claims that De Gea is frustrated by missing out on Champions League football but will be prepared to stay if Jose Mourinho is given the opportunity to reverse United’s slump since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.
Mourinho is strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford and reports have claimed that the 53-year-old has a verbal agreement to replace Dutchman Louis van Gaal.
