The Brazilian attacking midfielder was recently named Liverpool’s Player of the Season, and he is clearly a potential matchwinner for the final against Sevilla in Basel on Wednesday night.
A healthy situation for Liverpool is that even though Coutinho started the season as their sole magician, since Jurgen Klopp’s arrival, Roberto Firmino has also stepped up and been that extra spark to produce the cutting edge. Then there’s Adam Lallana who’s also improved immensely and either of these three could break the resistance of Sevilla.
“A win would be fantastic for me,” Coutinho told Goal.com
“I have enjoyed the season and it would make it really special, yes. But for the entire squad, too.
“We would end the season on a high and be in the Champions League, of course. That is important for the club and for the players too – Liverpool is a club that needs to be at the highest level.”
The Reds would qualify for the Champions League group stage if they beat Sevilla on the night.
