Diego Costa is a major doubt for Chelsea’s crunch clash at home to Liverpool at Stamford Bridge this weekend after he was reportedly taken to hospital with a rib injury according to coach Jose Mourinho.
The Spanish forward was forced off holding his side with an injury that looked to be sustained during a challenge with Shawcross and Charlie Adam.
“Costa is in hospital with a rib injury,” Mourinho said after his side’s defeat
Without the Spaniard, the Blues failed to beat a ten man Stoke City in extra-time at the Britannia after regulation time ended 1-1.
Costa who was replaced by Loic Remy in the defeat has scored twice in eight English Premier League games champions who have won just one of their last seven matches in all competitions.
It remains to be seen if he will recover timely for the Blues’ UEFA Champions League mid-week clash at home to Dynamo Kiev next week.
