Chelsea’s technical director and former Nigeria international Michael Emenalo has given more insights on why the Blues had to part ways with Jose Mourinho despite the fact that the Portuguese gaffer remains the most successful Coach in the Club’s 110 years history.
Emenalo said with Mourinho in the driver’s seat; Chelsea were in trouble and the decision to sack the Portuguese was the only way out.
The respected right-hand man of owner Roman Abramovich also confirmed that Mourinho had lost the support of the dressing room at Stamford Bridge.
“While there is huge sentiment for the individual who has done so much for the club, the fact of the matter remains that Chelsea Football Club are in trouble,” he told the club’s official website.
“The results are not good. There obviously seemed to be a palpable discord between manager and players. We feel it was time to act.”
With Mourinho now of the saddle, the task for Emenalo and the Chelsea chiefs is to bring in a Manager that can help stern the tide.
For now, bookmarkers have named former manager Guus Hiddink as the clear favourite.
