Belgium international Christian Benteke has handed Liverpool a major boost ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as he declares himself fit.
The former Aston Villa forward picked up a knock during last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Southampton and was rated doubtful for the tie.
However, the 24-year-old has now made himself available for the Reds which will gladden the heart of new manager Jurgen Klopp as strike duo Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings are still out injured.
“I’m good,” Benteke told the club’s official website. “I just felt something during the game against Southampton last week. Now it’s behind me and I’m looking forward to the Chelsea game.
“Injuries are part of football but I’m trying to do everything I can to be fit for the rest of the season and to play every game. I try to stay as long as possible [at Melwood] to be really fully fit.”
Liverpool are currently placed ninth on the Premier League log with 14points, three points ahead of 15th placed Chelsea following three wins, five draws and two defeats so far.
