N’Golo Kante has agreed a move to Chelsea after the Stamford Bridge club reach an agreement for a fee with Leicester City for the signing of the midfielder, according to reports.
Kante was one of the revelations of the season as unfancied Leicester won the Premier League last term, and has since been attracting interests from some of Europe’s premier clubs, including Arsenal and Real Madrid.
But multiple reports are now claiming that Chelsea have stolen the march on the other clubs, by agreeing a fee of £29m for the Mali-born holding midfielder.
Leicester were believed to have offered Kante a new £100,000-a-week deal in a bid to ward off potential suitors, which he turned down.
Chelsea will have a new manager in Antonio Conte for the new season, and he is believed to be a big fan of Kante’s, and has reportedly rushed to make him one of his first signings as the Blues’ boss.
Kante’s teammate at Leicester, Jamie Vardy was also a subject of interest from several clubs, with Arsenal going as far as triggering his buyout clause of £20m, but after much delay, the striker chose to remain with the Foxes for the new season.
Another Leicester City player who is attracting interests is Riyad Mahrez, and although no club has made an official bid yet, he remains on the shopping list of several of Europe’s top clubs.
