Despite having to rely on a last minute equalizer to salvage a point in Sunday’s clash against Manchester United in the English Premier League, Chelsea’s John Obi Mikel believes that his team were the better side and actually deserved to win that tie
According to Mikel, the final result in Sunday’s contest at Stamford Bridge doesn’t reflect Chelsea’s performance in that game.
The Nigerian midfielder added that the Red Devils obtained this result thanks to the outstanding performance of their goalkeeper, De Gea.
In an interview with “Sky Sports”, Mikel said: “In the beginning of the game, Manchester United players tried to score the opening. They dominated in the first 15 minutes of the game. However, we were able to make a good performance by taking the ball possession after that.We were fortunately able to equalize in the last minutes of the game”.
Mikel added: “It’s true that they controlled the game in some periods but we created more scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, we were able to score only one occasion”.
It is on record that Mikel has never lost any game under interim boss Guus Hiddink
