Chelsea started the new post Jose Mourinho era on a a wining note as they romped to a 3-1 win over Sunderland in the English Premier League on Saturday.
Indeed there was an improved display from Chelsea players which in a way could give credence to the damning allegation made by Mourinho that his playing staff conspired against him.
Unlike earlier outings, Chelsea were dominant from the blast of the whistle and they were two goals up inside 13 minutes.
It was Branislav Ivanovic who got the opener before Pedro doubled the lead. A second-half penalty from Oscar put the hosts in the driver’s seat and literally sealed a vital three points for the struggling champions.
It will sure be a delight for returning Guus Hiddink who watched on from the directors box after being confirmed as manager until the end of the season before kick-off.
Though Fabio Borini pulled one back for Sunderland. it was inconsequential as the Black Cats remain rooted in the relegation zone.
