The home-based Super Eagles team are hoping to record a double over the Etalons of Burkina Faso as both teams battle in Sunday’s 2016 African Nations Championship final round, second leg qualifier.
The Eagles B team already have a 2-0 advantage from the first leg played last weekend in Port Harcourt and they are now hoping to consolidate on that in Sunday’s crucial second leg by recording yet another win at the at the Stade August 4.
Yaro Bature and Gbolahan Salami were the goal scorers for Nigeria in the first leg.
Captain of the Nigeria team Salami told thenff.com that they have their eyes on qualification and hope to do so in style by recording a ‘get well soon’ victory over their hosts in honour of the Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh currently indisposed owing to ill health.
“We want to win the game for Nigeria and we believe that securing the CHAN ticket will hasten the complete recovery of our head coach,” Salami said.
Meanwhile, officials have stated that the Super Eagles will be adorned in green, while the Etalons will wear white with kickoff fixed for 4pm local time (5pm Nigeria time).
Libyan referee Mohamed Ragab Omara will be at the centre, assisted by compatriots Foaad Mohamed El Maghrabi, Baesus Safe- El Naser and Abdallah Baesus Ashraf as assistant 1, assistant 2 and reserve referee respectively.
The winner on aggregate will enter the pot for next month’s Draw for the 4th African Nations Championship, taking place in Rwanda 16 January – 7 February, 2016.
