The Nigeria Football Federation,NFF is understood to be mulling over having the Home-based Eagles observe a camping exercise in Dar Es Salam, capital of Tanzania ahead of the Africa Nations Championships, CHAN.
Coach Sunday Oliseh has already stated that he has his mind made up on the players to be invited to camp to kick start preparations for the 2016 tournament billed to take place in Rwanda.
Sources in the NFF told 366football.com that once the needed funds are secured the home based Eagles should proceed on at least a two-week camping exercise outside the country.
“Yes there are plans to camp the home-based Eagles in Dar Es Salam for the CHAN tournament but everything will depend on the funds we are able to secure, I think the Coach will be inviting 30 players to first start preparations here in Nigeria before trimming them down for the other exercise outside the country” the source stated.
The NFF indeed is putting premium on the 2016 CHAN tournament as a good outing is guaranteed to help the ranking of the national team on the monthly FIFA rankings.
That in turn could be a big boost ahead of the draws for the final stage of the World Cup qualifiers for Africa.
Nigeria finished third last term in South Africa and the target now is to go all the way to dethrone present champions, Libya.
The 2016 CHAN will take place from January 16 to February 7 and Nigeria will be campaigning in Group C alongside Tunisia, Niger and Guinea.
