Nigeria defender Austin Obaroakpo says they will go into today’s final group game against Guinea with a win in mind, despite just needing a point to go through.
The Super Eagles top group C with four points while the Syli National, along with Tunisias Carthage Eagles have two apiece, which means a draw will see Nigeria progress to the quarter finals, but Obaroakpo is insistent they will be going for a win.
“All we want in the game is a win and that is the way we will approach it,” he said. “Maybe we will qualify if we get a point but it is always better to win.
“We would have qualified if we won against Tunisia but it was a difficult game and the Tunisians were good.
“Our next game is what we have in mind now and what we have in mind is a win,” he stressed.
A point against Guinea will give Nigeria five points, and will seem through irrespective of what Tunisia and Niger play.
However, a loss and Tunisia wins, Nigeria may be on their way out of the competition.
